PRIDE: A CELEBRATION OF CONFIDENCE
CHAMPIONING RADICAL LOVE, ACCEPTANCE, AND AUTHENTICITY THROUGH DESIGN.
PRIDE: A CELEBRATION OF CONFIDENCE
LOVE IS LOVE IS LOVE.
We believe everyone should have the right to celebrate who and how they love. EQ3 has always stood for freedom of expression. Without it, the design world wouldn’t be as colourful as it is today.
We’ve partnered with Queer Design Club, an organization that shares our passion for inclusivity in the industry, to bring you our limited edition Pride totes. We paired one of our Graphic Designers Elis Wautier, with Queer Design Club member Isabel Castillo Guijarro, to create a design that celebrates their community and its message of authenticity.
100% of proceeds will be donated to local LGBTQIA+ organizations in an effort to build a brighter future.
Available in-store while quantities last.
THE DESIGN
Driven by the goal of creating a wearable statement piece that brought the celebratory nature of Pride into an everyday context, the designers opted for a classic black and white colour palette that also speaks to the evolution of coming out and the designers’ personal journeys with identity. Although the palette is sophisticated, their choice of typography for the word “proud” is bold, graphic, and outside the box. It disregards the usual rules of clean lines and sophisticated lettering for a more fluid and playful sensibility.
“Being able to be free to live your life however you want despite push back... It's a very radical thing to do in general. We wanted the messaging to be very straightforward, and exactly what Pride is about: to not sink into the background, not be passive or apologetic. When minorities aren't passive about where they stand, that's when change happens.” - Elis
“For us, pride is everyday. I think we've moved beyond exclusively using the flag or even the colours on the flag, and instead wearing a black and white tote bag that still represents the idea of being proud of living authentically for who we are is just as powerful.” - Isabel

ABOUT ELIS
Elis is a graphic designer based in Winnipeg. Influenced by Queer culture from a transgender perspective, he started his online art brand ZAGGY in 2020. To celebrate this year, he has designed Pride Pebbles: abstract acrylic brooches coloured as different Pride identity flags, available in his shop. Elis is a graphic design graduate of Red River College and a designer with EQ3's creative agency.
“[Pride] is about having fun and celebrating life. It’s a break from dealing with things that a lot of Queer people have to deal with everyday. It can be pretty tough. But for me it’s a time to just be surrounded by community and have a great time.” - Elis
